Everyday Life Announces Scholarship Opportunity for NCHW Certification

Everyday Life

Everyday Life, a leading provider of professional development and training for Community Health Workers (CHWs), is pleased to announce a new scholarship program aimed at supporting the professional growth and impact of individuals and organizations committed to addressing health disparities in underserved communities.

The scholarship initiative, known as the “MDHHS NCHW Scholarship,” will provide the opportunity for 18 individuals to receive full funding for the National Community Health Worker (NCHW) Certification, a comprehensive program that equips CHWs with the knowledge and skills to enhance health outcomes and promote health equity within their communities.

“We are thrilled to introduce the MDHHS NCHW Scholarship as part of our ongoing commitment to fostering positive change in communities facing long-standing health disparities,” said Shannon Lijewski, CEO of Everyday Life. “By providing access to the NCHW Certification for deserving individuals and organizations, we aim to empower CHWs to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.”

Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the Equity in Health Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Employer Eligibility: Employers must be a 501(c)(3) organization with an annual revenue of less than $500,000. Organizations with higher revenue may also apply if they primarily serve priority populations facing health disparities.
  • Community Focus: Employers must primarily serve in communities with long-standing health disparities related to race, income, geographic location, or other sociodemographic characteristics, including incarceration and homelessness.

The scholarship recipients will gain access to the NCHW Certification, which covers a wide range of topics essential for effective community health work, including health promotion, disease prevention, cultural competency, communication skills, and advocacy.

Applications for the MDHHS NCHW Scholarship will be open from August 22nd to September 30th, 2023.

“By investing in the professional development of CHWs serving in communities with significant health disparities, we aim to create a ripple effect that leads to improved health outcomes and greater health equity,” added Shannon.
