Men's National CHW Alliance
Addressing The Critical Gap of Underrepresentation Of Male CHW's
On August 4, 2023, at the NACHW Unity Conference, in Austin, Texas, Terri Jowers, CCHW, South Carolina Community Health Worker Association (SCCHWA) and Guillermo Wippold, Ph.D., University of South Carolina, presented their community-engaged research on Men's Health in a breakout session entitled “We Need More Male CHWs! What Community-based Participatory Research told us about engaging men in health.” A challenge was laid down to increase the number of male CHWs. ELC took this challenge to heart. Our very own Mike Young and Kyle Stahl have been instrumental in steering the discussions that followed, contributing their expertise and passion to ensure the MNCHWA not only took root but also continues to grow as we move into 2024.
